Of course, if you are going to your best friend’s Christmas party, to know exactly what to give her as a gift. But what do you give to a co-worker, or a hostess that you don’t know very well?
Food items are always a safe bet. A nice box of chocolates or bottle of wine never goes out of style. Homemade baked goods are always thoughtful, too, as long as they are packages nicely. If you want something a little more creative, consider your co-worker’s hobbies. If you know she is a gardener for example, a nice card and gift certificate to a local garden center, or some flower bulbs might be nice.
Try to stay away from cut flowers. You don’t want to make your hostess run all over to find a vase, while she is hosting a party.
Of course, it is always polite to ask ahead of time if you should bring anything to the party.
