This year, make sure you don’t get too caught up in all the holiday hype. Remember to make plenty of time for friends and family. That is, after all, what the holidays are all about. Show them that you care by sending them thoughtful Christmas Cards. Also, do your best to include a good book in your holiday plans. Set aside some time each night to read with the kids. Christmas classics like Dr. Suess’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Chris Van Allsburg’s Polar Express are great for the youngest readers. Madeline’s Christmas, Wolf Christmas, and A Small Miracle are also great reads for kids.
For the older readers, pick up a copy of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. The young and old will be delighted by the three ghosts of Christmas, and of course, the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge. This is a book that everyone should read.
Winter nights are the perfect time to stay in and get comfortable with a good book. Be sure to share some of your holiday favorites with the family!
If you need to get a gift for that person who already has everything, make a donation in their name to a charity that promotes children’s literacy.
