Remember What Christmas is All About

It is easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the holidays.  We are all so busy buying presents, baking and going to parties that we sometimes forget what Christmas is all about.  Be sure to take a step back and remember those who are less fortunate this holiday season, whoever that may be.

Instead of throwing your annual Christmas party, why not gather a group of friends and volunteer at your local soup kitchen for a night?  Many of these places operate only because of volunteers and always welcome another pair of hands.  Don’t know what to buy that friend who’s got everything?  Make a donation to a local charity in her name.

Also, remember the elderly this Christmas.  Invite your older neighbor over for lunch and let them know that they are welcome.  If you’re pressed for time, stop in for a quick visit or make sure that their walkway or driveway is free of ice and snow.

It is important that we take time to look past the commercialism of the holidays and remember what Christmas is really all about, hope, joy and good will towards men.
