Dreaming of a green Christmas?

Dreaming of a green Christmas?  Here are a few simple tips to make your holiday season more eco-friendly.

1)      Use LED lights in your holiday displays.  These lights are much more efficient than conventional lights and will save you a fortune on your energy bill.  LED lights are available at many major retailers.

2)      Buy a pesticide free Christmas tree.  Many farms use dozens of pesticides and chemical colorants.  However, there are plenty of organic tree farms, too.  Search for one near you.

3)      Forget the wrapping paper this year.  Wrap your gifts in the comics section of the newspaper, colorful magazine pages, old maps, or anything! Also try wrapping with something your friends and family can keep, like a new dish towel or scarf.

4)      Send out holiday cards printed on recycled paper.

5)      Support local and organic farms while you’re shopping.  Give locally made fruit preserves, chocolate, wines, or baked goods as gifts.
